Arizona Water Conservation Guides & Resources

Landscape Watering by the Numbers  provides methods to measure sprinkler output of and irrigation systems, figure lawn and plant watering needs and develop a seasonal watering schedule.  Guidelines for Landscape Drip Irrigation Systems covers critical aspects of design, construction and maintenance of drip irrigation systems for use by homeowners, contractors, developers, municipalities, professional organizations and agencies as a technical reference.
   
Landscape Plants for the Arizona Desert helps you select from over 200 desert plants to create an attractive and water-efficient landscape.  Desert Landscaping Plants For a Water Scarce Environment The University of Arizona’s Water Resources Research Center created an interactive CD Rom for design of landscapes containing plant selectors, over 1,500 photos information on 600 low water-use plants and reviews of two dozen plant books.

Tucson AMA's Annual Xeriscape Contest - Each year, the Arizona Department of Water Resources' Tucson Active Management Area conducts a Xeriscape contest for homeowners and professionals in the area.
 

  • Tucson is Educating Consumers to Drop their Water Use . . .

    The Tucson office of the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) has developed a new pilot program, Drop Your Water Use, to educate retail nursery customers on how to plan and maintain a healthy and water efficient landscape.

    The program is a voluntary collaboration between ADWR and local nurseries that uses a simple water drop system to identify plants with similar water requirements. Plants are labeled one through three, distinguished with corresponding water drops and numbers.

  • The mission of The Irrigation Association (IA), a non-profit, North American organization, is to improve the products and practices used to manage water resources and to help shape the worldwide business environment of the irrigation industry.
     
  • The IA provides certification, for landscape water auditors and irrigation designers, contractors, managers and specialists and a list of certified water auditors and irrigation professionals in your area.
